Nepal Research and Education Network (NREN) is a non-profit organization registered under the Government of Nepal and affiliated with the Social Welfare Council. As a member-based institution, NREN is dedicated to building a nationwide research and education network to address research backwardness in Nepal by connecting with global research and education networks. It facilitates a dedicated, advanced network to empower research and education communities across the nation.

Founded in 2007 by a group of academicians and ICT professionals, NREN was established to address the critical need for a high-speed research and education network in Nepal. By overcoming the barriers caused by inadequate network connectivity, NREN aims to create a conducive environment for research and education with enhanced connectivity and infrastructure.
